Deal High Street gets a £10k boost

Deal is to receive a £10,000 grant following its unsuccessful bid earlier in the year to gain a share of the £1.5m available through the Mary Portas scheme to regenerate the nation’s high streets.

Unsuccessful bidders were given the chance to apply for funding through local MPs based on their original Portas application.

Dover and Deal MP Charlie Elphicke said, “This is great news for Deal High Street and will support some sensible projects to improve business on our High Street”.

Robin Green, team leader of the original Portas bid said, “In the next few weeks, the Town Team, in discussion with the High Street traders will be developing a plan to help residents and visitors alike discover and use the great shops we have here. it’s a very exciting challenge”.
